About us

Who we are

The Reine HANGBE Foundation (FRH) is a non-profit Beninese association (Law of 1901 style, governed by Beninese legislation on associations). It was born from the meeting of women from all walks of life, all driven by the same conviction: together, we can build a fairer society where women and children are fully protected and flourish.

The Foundation carries its name with pride and commitment: Reine Hangbé, the famous Amazon Queen of Danxomè who reigned over Abomey from 1708 to 1711.

Our governance

The Foundation is supported by a network of committed women:

• a Board of Directors of nine members, chaired by the President;
• a Regional Executive Director, responsible for the coordination of activities;
• national coordinators;
• focal points present in the communes of intervention.
